Artists don't get into it to be rich. If they do then they're crazy. Most artists don't make significant money off of their art. Other people profit from it. Society profits off of it. For many artists this is enough.
Athletes like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu players don't get into it to be rich. If they do then they're crazy as well. The journey is one of thankless hardship. For many BJJ players the process is enough.
The ultimate endeavors in life are not about earning tremendous wealth or being idolized. The ultimate endeavors are about the journey.
The journey of manhood is about challenge. The challenge goes beyond cerebral, and physical. The challenge is a spiritual one. With artistic exploration, and combative exploration there are no excuses. If you fail you fail. If you lose you lose.
Manhood is about standing up, and not making excuses. You can't blame the art market. You can't blame your coaches or teammates. The journey into manhood is about accepting what is, and working towards better.
Art, and mixed martial arts have aided me on the journey to manhood. The pain is the fuel for development. It's of no consequence if you hang in MOMA or win a gold medal. That's gravy. Gravy is comfort. Comfort takes you off the road to growth.
If you haven't been challenged you haven't really lived. Make a drawing. Write something. Get choked out. Try to choke someone out. Manhood is a gift bestowed upon those who can wield the power. There is no power when you hand it over to the world by making excuses.
Also, as a side note. I think money is a great tool. It has given me many great things. Money is nothing until it has been manifested. I have a wonderful home, vehicle, books, art supplies, rash guards, etc. Money did that for me.
