Discipline = Essential

Discipline is never something that came naturally to me. In fact, it still doesn't. Further more, I'm still a sad sack of lazy bones. Discipline is something that needs to be trained. We train our muscles when we workout. We train our eyes when we draw. We train our technique when we drill Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. So, that takes willpower. Willpower is something that determines if we get our workouts, drawing, and training in. So, are we doomed if we don't have it? I think willpower is something we can train too. It is a little different than the outward training. Willpower is far more abstract. Only you can be the judge of your own willpower. Do you lay in bed longer than you should... I know I do on occasion. Do you cut out a set in the gym, because you feel enough is enough? Do you rush a drawing, because you're getting bored? Do you skip Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class, because you'd rather watch endless videos on Youtube?

I do, and continue to do all of these things. It doesn't mean I've failed. It just means I need to train it as well. I need to start the development of myself by checking myself first. I need to cultivate willpower. It takes mindset in order to do it. I use the tools I've learned about mindset in order to attack life head-on.

"Check yourself before you wreck yourself", Ice Cube once said. It all starts with that fire in you. That fire is essential. Cultivate the fire, and you'll attack everything else with gusto. Use the areas of interest in life to build that fire. Stoke the flames, and you'll be amazed at how the fire grows.

Discipline is essential. Let's all burn bright, folks! I hope I could help to stoke your fire.
