#TIMESUP

Here we go again! I'd like to say I'm above enjoying a virtue signaling member of Hollywood being dragged through the mud. I'm not. All too often we have the Hollywood elites telling us how we need to think, speak, and behave. I wouldn't mind them scolding us if they weren't hypocrites. This recent case with Aziz Ansari needs to be brought up. We have a guy who has made a career talking about social justice. In his show "Master of None", he has more than a few episodes that speak about the racism of America. Indian Americans earn more money on average than White Americans. I say congratulations to that! I love this country, because it is not racist. My Jewish grandfather came here after living through a brutal war. Most of his family was murdered, and he had to begin again. He came to this country with nothing. He worked as an egg handler, and had a family. His daughter (my mom) earned a masters degree, danced for Boston City Ballet, and taught for years. If you want to make a go of it in America, you will. Aziz needs to wake up, and quit his complaining. He is wealthy, and famous. Simply put, he's winning. Indian Americans are crushing it. Aziz Ansari has a reported net worth of 17 million! Man, America must hate you so much. I wish America hated me that much. I'd gladly take the 17 million.
We also have a nuevo case of the Salem Witch Trials. We have celebrities being tried in the court of public opinion, and being fired from jobs without proof. How is this legal? I'm not so sure. Danny Masterson was fired from his job as an actor on the Netflix show, "The Ranch". He did not have a trial. He did not get to have his day in court to deal with these matters legally. Yet, Netflix shitcanned him without any proof of guilt. Danny Masterson may be guilty of these charges. We'll find out in the months ahead. That's a separate issue. The real issue is that we're subjecting citizens to the court of public opinion. In America, we have rights. It isn't American to destroy people without their day in court.
We're in panic mode. The rabbit hole of sexual disfunction in Hollywood runs deep. The "casting couch" has been known about, and talked about for years. None of this is going away anytime soon. We can take steps though to limit these scenarios. We need to check ourselves first. Are we putting ourselves in provocative situations? Are we not reading social cues? Are we not communicating? I have a feeling Hollywood will always be this way. I don't think "#TIMESUP" is going to change anything. They gave a standing ovation to Roman Polanski, and praised Harvey Weinstein as a "god". I, for one, won't be taking my life lessons from the Hollywood elite. They've proven time and time again that their time is up. Just look at the box office numbers, if you don't believe me. What we really need now is for true voices to speak up. I'd say it's time for that!
