Today was a good day. I woke up, and the weather was perfect. I rode into the town over to pick up my car from the shop. Then I rode over to train Jiu-Jitsu. It was a smaller class, and it invigorated me. My brother hit me up to go for a run, and then dunk into the ice water. New England water is never pleasant. When I put my legs in it felt like a legion of little elves were knifing me.
I find it useful to use the body to inform the soul. The thrill of the water, the majesty of the wild and the calm of the day made me complete. I noticed that I was disconnected from my phone (for once), and this in turn helped me connect within. Yes, I know that's a big load of cheese wiz I just sprayed you with. It doesn't make it any less true.
I go through highs and lows. Everybody does. I'm not special. I'm not impervious to doubt, fear and nihilism. I've found that a great antidote is to go out into nature. Don't bring your phone. Commune with the holy spirit.
It's amazing that we have this at our disposal. We are free, and living in a free land. Free your mind, and step away from the digital whirl wind. Breath in some fresh air, jog a bit, and step into water so cold it feels like little elves are knifing you. Remember, he made it for you and me.
