Identity politics blows; it blows hard. I'll make this an even shorter entry to sum up the logic I use in deciphering bullshit from truth.
Identity politics is defined as, a tendency for people of a particular religion, race, social background, etc., to form exclusive political alliances, moving away from traditional broad-based party politics.
This definition may seem innocuous, but it is terrible in forming policy. Broad-based party politics can also be detrimental to truth, but at least there is an ethos beyond shallow materialism. Objective truth is, regardless of the subjectivity of ones identity. Also, identity is so multifaceted that it is impossible to define a broad group. Women are 50/50 on abortion in the USA; Jews are conflicted over the US embassy being moved to Jerusalem; Blacks were not all for or against gay marriage. That being said, identity politics is a false movement towards some collectivist utopia. It is not an accurate way to go about finding truth. Truth, like the planet, will be here before and after us (as a people). So, truth is not congruent with our subjective predilections.
So, is there a more accurate definition of "identity politics?" Yes, I believe there is. I am not a writer of dictionaries, but I'll give it a shot. Identity politics is, a tendency for people of a particular totalitarian persuasion to execute their utopian fantasies unto the world with a complete disregard for the welfare of the human species, and disregard any notion of objective truth.
